東海大學共同貴重儀器中心成立於1989年至今，其主要工作內容在於支援校內同仁從事研究及教學工作；引介新知、加強科技教育、培育科技人才，並推動跨學科領域研究工作，落實科技整合，以提升研究成效與加強對校外之科技服務。本中心於產業、學術之間，架構貴重儀器代測的服務平臺。

　　東海大學貴儀中心目前編制於研發處之下設主任一位、組員兩位。
       李慧儒組員專職管理影像類儀器包含高解析穿透式電子顯微鏡(HR-TEM)、數位式穿透式電子顯微鏡（TEM）、雷射共軛焦顯微鏡(LSM-880)、奈米級超薄切片機、倒立式活細胞螢光顯微鏡、掃瞄式電子顯微鏡(SEM)兩台與拉曼光譜顯微鏡等儀器。
       黃美珠組員專職管理化學類儀器包含核磁共振儀(400M Hz NMR)、Ｘ-ray繞射儀(XRD)、基質輔助雷射脫附質譜儀(MALDI MS)、液相層析質譜儀（LC MS）、液相層析串聯式質譜儀（LC MSMS）、氣相層析質譜儀(GC MS)及感應耦合電漿質譜儀(ICP MS) 等儀器。
      本校貴儀中心的運作主要是為了提供校內教職員、學生上述高階研究儀器之使用與教育訓練，藉此提升東海大學之整體研究能量。有鑑於儀器之妥善維護與正確使用，本中心之儀器皆有各學系專職教授與其研究生專職管理與維護，藉此將儀器之使用效能發揮至極致。

　　中心負責統籌聯絡各個儀器負責老師與操作同學、維護貴儀中心網站更新、對外服務之接洽及貴儀中心之環境維護、帳務管理與廠商叫修等事務。且本中心為提升樣品檢測的效率及確保服務品質新增化學類及影像類機台專職人員，共同協助樣品委測。

　　本校貴儀中心對自身之基本要求為提供本校任何師生完備之貴重儀器使用權限。有儀器使用需求者即可安排送件，並可於有經驗的操作者陪同之下到場學習或收集自己的實驗數據。對於校外服務方面，由於本校緊鄰中部科學工業園區與台中榮民總醫院之故，因此固定會有若干園區廠商送件來東海大學檢測。而在中部的綜合大學中以中興大學之貴重儀器最為高階且齊全。然而其校內待測樣品繁多、需要等待的時間較長，對於時間即是金錢的研究學者而言或許難以提供即時的樣品檢測服務。另外，中興大學地處台中市中心，距離工業區（西屯區）尚有一段距離。反觀東海大學最為靠近中部科學工業園區可以提供廠商更快、更及時的服務。

 
The Center of Precision Instruments of Tunghai University was founded in 1989. Our mission is to support the faculty and staff with their research and teaching, introduce cutting edge information, strengthen the education of technology knowledge, cultivate scientific and technological talents, and bring out interdisciplinary research. We practice technology integration to enhance efficiency and to provide more off-campus technology services. The Center of Precision Instruments provides lab testing services for academic institutes and industrial organization.
 
The Center is working under the Office of Research and Development of Tunghai University with one director and one staff member.

 III. Service and Future Development

       Our goal is to provide faculty and students with precision instruments for educational and training purposes. We believe that the instruments we provide greatly increases positive outcome of researches conducted in Tunghai University. In this center, we have trained professionals maintaining and managing all of the precision instruments so that they are always ready to help you accomplish your objectives.
 
            One staff member is appointed to reach assigned instrument managers and operators, update Center website, provide customer support, handle accounting affairs, and contact the instrument repair company. Instruments operation and lab test results delivery are carried out by assigned faculty and graduate student employees. Graduate student employees’ wages come from the Center’s budget for 15 precision instruments every year. Anything that goes beyond the budget will be covered by the managing instructors’ or the departments’ own funds reserved for instruments maintenance.
 
The instruments we provide is for use by every faculty and student in Tunghai University. Anyone who wishes to use them can register online and collect the lab test results directly from the instruments if s/he is accompanied with an authorized operator. We also provide services for nearby organization and businesses such as the Taichung Veteran General Hospital and the Central Taiwan Science Park. Some organization send in samples for testing occasionally and some periodically. Although National Chung Hsing University have a more complete assortment of precision instruments, one would also need to deal with longer time in waiting and service. We, at Tunghai University, provide faster services for scholars or businesses whose time is of great importance. Locating at a convenient location, close to both the Central Taiwan Science Park and the Taichung Industrial Park, Tunghai University is able to provide high quality services in less time. We believe that our services could inspire even more collaboration projects to increase the value of nearby organization and businesses to create a better environment for both the industry and academic communities if more grants are given by the Ministry of Science and Technology, R.O.C.
